PROGRAM: SEPTEMBER, 2011
The main project for this quilting year will be a sampler quilt with a focus on developing various quilting techniques. Two blocks will be presented at each meeting with patterns and instructions. Construction techniques and examples will be shown and discussed. Some techniques will be also demonstrated with "hands on" practice. Some of the more difficult techniques may have some demonstration time scheduled on Super Saturdays. We will try to have pictures of each block will placed on this page after each monthly meeting.
Materials required: one or two focus fabrics which should appear in each block - 2 to 3 yards of each focus fabric. If you plan to use either of these fabrics for boarders, extra yardage will be needed. Scraps of other co-ordinating fabric. 3 to 5 yards of background fabric.
Questions on this project should be directed to Sandra and/or Trisha.
The September blocks are Dresden Plate and Irish Chain and are pictured above.

Hollyhocks Around the Barn : Posted are pictures taken by Dorothy Davis, of the proposed Quilt for the Year. Hope you will find these helpful in planning your own version of this very pretty and challenging project.
Those who are participating, need to try to have the cutting done for the background (yellows), and the flowers, large and small (pinks and reddish pinks), for the October meeting.
This example is made by Sandra Culberson. Notice how close the colours are to the pictures of the actual holly hocks, below.

March Program: Shirley Dunphy Trunk Show!
March was the month for runners, placemats, and table toppers. One of our most respected quilters, Shirley Dunphy, was kind enough to bring the work she has completed for this theme. Enjoy all the pictures below which represent just a smattering of the volume of quilting she has completed over the years. Thank you so much, Shirley, for this wonderful presentation.
